COWPENS NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD

Cowpens National Battlefield is the site of an important battle of the Revolutionary War. The battle occurred on the very cold, early morning of January 17, 1781. Daniel Morgan led his Patriot forces of about 600 Continentals and 1000 militia to victory over England's Banastre Tarleton and his 110 British Regulars. The battle lasted about a half hour and constituted one of the most important victories in the American Revolution that led to American Independence.
